Ultimate Kayaking Trip – Canada Johnstone Strait Kayaking Trip

Thursday the 18th July 2013 –

Arrive in Victoria, the Capital of British Columbia and check in to the Harbour Towers Suites, only a 100 mtr walk to the Beautiful Harbour of this Classic Canadian City. Our group will meet here in the afternoon and you can join us for for dinner and drinks at the Iconic Victoria Irish Pub. This is simply one of the most brilliant Pubs the JBK Team have ever been to.

Friday the 19th July 2013 -

Victoria is a renowned walking city where everything of interest is within a short stroll. Spend the day of leisure checking out the sights, including Killer Whale Watching tours, The Museum of British Columbia , the Houses of Parliament, and the Empress Hotel, all within 500mtrs from our accommodation. Take a short $10 Victoria Ferry Ride to Fisherman's Wharf and experience the floating home district of Victoria and have lunch on the sea whilst the Sea Planes and Ferries enter the harbour around you. This district is a great experience and very much part of Vancouver Island Life. In the past our group has met up for dinner at the classic Spaghetti Factory Pasta restaurant just a stone’s throw from the Harbour Suites.

Saturday the 20th July 2013 –

We will be picked up from the Harbour Suites and transported 7hours North through the centre of Vancouver Island. This journey takes in the scenery and feel of the Island and is a relaxed trip with rest stops and time for photography and meals whilst enroute. As the trip is exclusively

JBKs we are under no real schedule. Arrival at around 3pm is at the small remote township resort town of Telegraph Cove

This rustic settlement is the launching point for the Johnstone Strait Sea Kayaking Operators and the Beautiful Broughton Archipelago. This region is the Ultimate Kayaking Destination, offering unrivaled scenery and wildlife in a Wilderness Region that has to be experienced at least once in every Kayaker’s Life.

Our fantastic Accommodation is at the Telegraph Cove Marina and from the Bay window it is common to watch Otters feed on the Spoils of the Salmon Fishing Season that is in full swing during our visit. Occasionally Black Bears can be seen foraging on the shoreline and the Bald Eagles guard the Marina taking fish from the Strait at the mouth of the Bay. JBK have visited this region four times over the last 5 years and it has a wonderful homely feel about it, and remains a rustic and pure to it's heritage, as a timber sawmill and salmon cannery.

The Rustic Charm of the Remote North Island Resort of Telegraph Cove British Columbia

Dinner at the Killer Whale Cafe and a Pint or 2 at the Old Saltery Pub will see us adjourn to bed ready for an incredible 6 days of Kayaking in the Johnstone Strait and the Broughton Archipelago.

Sunday 21st July - Friday the 26th July 2013 -

At 8am Sunday we will meet Brian, our Professional Sea Kayaking Guide and prepare our gear and load up for an unbelievable 6 days of Sea Kayaking Heaven. Our days are pretty relaxed, taking in the scenery and amazing wildlife. Every trip JBK have lead here has been so different as we blend into the Wilds of Vancouver Island. Brian has the ultimate Base Camp with Sheltered Camp Kitchen and manicured campsites within the First Nations Cultural Land, including a classic cedar toilet with a view into the forest. This set up is one of the best in Canada and it's absolute beach front ensures every Orca can be seen from the beach.

3 Nights at Spyhop Point Campsite minimises the daily loading and unpacking packing of equipment and day trips are taken from here to make the most of the Robson Bight Ecological Reserve and Hanson Island opposite our campsite. These areas are the feeding grounds for the Resident ( Salmon Eating ) Orca Pod as they target the Salmon Run into the adjacent Fjords and Inlets that make this region so spectacular.
