SOME HELPFUL TIPS :

Good preparation can save a great deal of time on the Saturday morning and can ensure that we are able to bring all items necessary.

Clothing should be layered and of thermal polypropelene or similar ( such as skiing/hiking thermals ) so as to ensure warmth when wet. Cotton clothing is not appropriate for on water use, as evaporation can lead to chilling in the event of getting wet.

Sensible paddling clothing should include ( thermal shirt, board shorts quick dry., rash shirt, swimmers, hat, sunglasses, wetsuit boots if possible, or sandals, thermal fleece or Polartec).

It is essential that a water bottle is brought along for hydration purposes. This can be a sports water bottle, mount franklin or similar or Hydration Pack.

Space is limited in the kayaks, so it is wise to limit it to necessary items only. Space is available for sleeping bag, small bag of clothes, tent, food and personal items.

Although dry bags are recommended we suggest that the maximum size of dry bag used is 20ltrs for reasons of space. Garbage bags are sufficient for keeping gear dry as our kayaks are quite watertight. Please wrap all gear including sleeping bags in 2 Garbage bags each (if you don’t have Dry Bags).

Packing of gear in several small cylindrical shaped packs is recommended as it allows for ease of storage.

Please ensure that personal medication is remembered as we are bush camping and there is no access to shops for the duration of the trip.

We intend to provide you with the very best Experience and we suggest that you prepare yourself for a rewarding weekend of Sea Kayaking with Jervis Bay Kayak Co.

Please feel free to contact us at any time to discuss your trip if you have any further questions.
